Study and work in Syntax

Working alongside your studies brings many challenges. But there are also a number of benefits that will benefit you not only during your studies, but also after graduation. We have nearly two dozen working students - as we call them. Students work for us in several departments and specialize in the areas of SAP, infrastructure, security or People & Culture (HR). There are certainly plenty of opportunities to "grab". If you are still hesitant to give it a go and want to know what it all entails, the opinion of our students will best help you in your decision. We reached out to them to give us their personal opinion and perspective on working alongside their studies.
Anka, working student in People & Culture (HR)

I consider working alongside my studies to be a great advantage. I can try out what awaits me after graduation, but also gain valuable experience that will definitely help me in the future. However, sometimes it requires really good time management, especially during the exam period. But there is no need to worry about it, it can be managed. Of course, you also have to want and be willing to work, then it all goes easier. I think the big advantage is that the jump from student life to working life will not be so big for me and the whole process will be much easier. I would definitely recommend anyone who is weighing to at least give it a try. Maybe you’ll find a job you enjoy and colleagues who become friends. If you don’t try, you don’t know.

Radka, working student at SB2 / SAP Basis

I enjoy working at the company mainly because of the great team and flexible working hours. I am gradually getting acquainted with working with SAP systems under the supervision of my always helpful colleagues. I feel that I have advanced my knowledge a lot in the year and a half I have been here. I enjoy my work, I like coming to the company, so it’s been a very positive experience for me.

Dávid – working student in the Security/Engineering department

Working alongside school is a wonderful thing as it allows me to encounter systems and environments that I would not be able to encounter and experience ‘first hand’ in a school environment. It also allows me to meet people on a daily basis just from practice who can provide me with the knowledge I need and different perspectives on things that need to be addressed. However, it is important to be able to allocate your time properly so that you can manage both school and work at the same time.

Patrik – working student in the OSX/Linux department

Thanks to my work at Syntax, every day I gain experience and knowledge that school cannot provide. Even teachers with the best of intentions often don’t have experience of how IT companies work today. Thanks to the cooperation of students and full-time employees in our team, it is possible to balance work and study to keep everything on track. I definitely recommend this form of working alongside your studies, as it allows you to “meet the reality” in an IT company already during your studies.

Samo – working student at SAP Cross Application Services / SAP AMS

Working alongside school is definitely a huge advantage when it comes to getting valuable practice for life, and Syntax definitely gives me that. In the time I’ve spent here so far, I’ve learned how to work with different parts of the SAP system, diagnose and solve problems, and most importantly, communicate properly both internally and with the customer. Of course, it is very important to be able to divide your time properly between school and work, but flexibility is definitely a huge benefit in this company. Also, the team and overall professionalism makes the job fun and full of challenges. If you’re still on the fence about taking the plunge, I definitely recommend giving it a try 😉.
